6 Genius Bathroom Storage Ideas

We get it: it's really hard keep cosmetics and bath items within reach and looking good at the same time. If your bathroom could use an organizational makeover, check out some of our favorite storage ideas and get inspired.

Mason Jars for Makeup

Quit throwing all your makeup brushes and tools in a pile in a drawer. This ingenious DIY project keeps everything organized, clean, and within reach. This version uses hardware store hose clamps to hold wide mouth mason jars in place. The background is a stained construction pallet, but you could also use a sheet of stainless steel for a heatproof backing that would allow you to store a curling iron in the jars as well.

The Vanity Valet

Of course, if you have a collection of curling irons and hairdryers, you might need the Pojjo Vanity Valet. This kit allows you to turn wasted vanity space under the sink into a secret, flip-down drawer for your hair appliances. We especially love the bonus cord keepers to keep tangles at bay.

No linen closet? No problem! These clever wooden crates can be mounted on the wall to create as much storage space as you need to keep an extra set of towels, guest soaps, or whatever else you want to keep handy. We think these are better than shelves because the sides keep unruly soft goods in place, and the square shapes are modular and fun to arrange in whatever configuration you like best.

Hidden Laundry Sorting

Even if you're lucky enough to have a bathroom closet, there's always room for improvement. Might we suggest turning a pull-out trash system for kitchen cabinets into a hidden laundry sorter? We love the way the two-bucket system allows for colors and whites to be sorted on the spot in an out-of-the-way area. Bonus points for the clever use of the shower caddy on the inside of the closet door!

If you're ready for a soup-to-nuts bathroom transformation, skip the bathroom vanity section of your local home store and head for the kitchen design center. Kitchen cabinetry can be customized with all sorts of ingenious storage solutions. We especially love the appliance garage used to hide all the daily-use items that would otherwise clutter the counter.

Secret Vanity

Admittedly, not everyone has the space to make this happen, but we bet you that if you were motivated, you could turn your linen closet into a secret vanity. There's still plenty of storage space for towels and other bathroom supplies above, but the bottom shelves have been removed and replaced with a set of drawers, stool, and a mirror. Best of all, you don't have to put away your makeup: just close the doors and you're good to go!
