Cheap Robot Vacuum Cleaner Review

robot vacuum

Let's face it, robot vacuum cleaners are seriously cool!

The only problem is that some of them can be quite expensive, but don't worry - I've surveyed all the major brands and found the best affordable ones that will let you sit back and relax while your automated vacuum does all the work, without you having to work overtime to afford one.

Here are my findings, ordered from the lowest price upwards:

Robo Vacum

Robo Vacum

This sits somewhere between novelty toy and actual appliance.

I've included it because some people are just looking for a robot vacuum for its novelty value rather than something which is a true workhorse.

It does work on smooth surfaces, but don't expect it to do any heavy duty work and you won't be disappointed.

It's not a true robot - you actually have to move it around by hand, and it's suitable only for picking up dust and small items like pencil shavings from your desk.

If you're looking for a geniune robot vacuum, then scroll down to the real ones below.

P3 P4960

P3 P4960

The P4960 can clean up on wood, tiles, and carpet.

It weighs less than 5 lbs and has 3 automatic pattern modes: Random for small and tight floors, Spiral for larger open areas, and finally Along the Wall mode.

It has enough intelligence to prevent itself from getting stuck in tight places, and to avoid falling down stairs.

At this price you can't expect everything - you have to manually plug it into the power to re-charge it, otherwise it's excellent value at this price, and it comes with a 4 month warranty.

CleanMate QQ2 Basic

Infinuvo CleanMate QQ2 Basic

Infinuvo make some great robot vacuums, and although this is at the low-cost end of their range, it still has versatile capabilities.

The QQ2 Basic can cope with soft surfaces such as carpet, and also transition smoothly onto hard floor surfaces such as hardwood, tiles, and linoleum.

As well as vacuuming and sweeping, it also uses ultraviolet light which can also neutralize bacteria.

With an average retail price under $140, the Infinuvo CleanMate QQ2 Basic is excellent value.

Mint Automatic Hard Floor Cleaner 4200

Mint 4200

Mint works exclusively on hard floor surfaces, meaning it deliberately avoids carpets and rugs. This works to your advantage if you have hard floors such as wood, tiles, or laminate, and also have rugs you don't want damaged.

It is a step up in intelligence over the robot vacuums above, with clever algorithms and memory that allows it to map out and find all the nooks and crannies of your floor.

The 3 hour battery of the Mint 4200 is enough to get the job done in the largest of floor areas, and once it's completed cleaning the area it's in, it turns itself off to preserve battery power for the next area you relocate it to.

One of it's really cool features is that it not only vacuums, but you can attach a moist cleaner to it so it can mop your floor as well.
